Chicago Rush News Release
Mountain West - The Rush makes its first ever trip to the Wasatch Mountains this week as the team heads to Salt Lake City for a Saturday night meeting with the Utah Blaze.
Saturday's game will be only the second between the teams, whose only other matchup was an 84-48 Rush win at Allstate Arena in 2006. The 2006 win over the Blaze was the first in Chicago's six-game winning streak that continued through the playoffs and culminated with the ArenaBowl XX title in Las Vegas.
The Rush enters this week's game in the midst of a five-game winning streak, including a 72-28 blowout win over Los Angeles Monday night at Allstate Arena. The win clinched the team's second-consecutive Central Division title and earned the team a bye through the first round of the playoffs.
After reaching the playoffs in each of its first two seasons in the AFL, the Blaze is struggling in 2008. Utah opened the season with losses in its first nine games, before finally earning its first win May 3 over Kansas City. A May 10 win over Colorado raised Utah's record to 2-9, before a loss last week at San Jose snapped its two-game winning streak.
Despite its record, Utah has one of the most-dangerous offenses in the AFL, ranking fourth in the league with an average of 58.3 points per game.
