The Sharks and Mountaineers earn key divisional wins on a quiet Monday around the league.

Martha's Vineyard Sharks 6 - North Shore Navigators 2

Fraser Field in Lynn, MA - The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (6-6) defeated the North Shore Navigators (3-10) in their afternoon matchup on Monday.

The Navigators struck first in this one, scoring on a Jake Bullard (Stetson) single in the second inning, and a Jake EcElory (Holy Cross) fielder's choice in the third to take a 2-0 lead. Martha's Vineyard responded immediately by scoring three runs in the fourth. The runs came on a balk, and a two run single from Michael Snyder (Washington) to put the Sharks on top 3-2.

The score would stay that way for a while, as Vineyard's Jacob Weaver and North Shore's Nathaniel Espelin (Dayton) held the opposing offenses at bay. The Sharks tacked on in the eighth on an RBI walk from Matt Woods (Bryant), an RBI hit by pitch by Dorian Gonzalez (Miami) and an RBI fielder's choice from Ryan Nicholson (Cincinnati). The Sharks were up 6-2, and Rafe Schlesinger (Miami) struck out five over the last three and a third innings to earn the save.

Both teams will face off again on Tuesday, this time in the Shark tank at 6:35 p.m.

Vermont Mountaineers 12 - Winnipesaukee Muskrats 2

W - Christopher Kahler 2-0 (George Washington) 6 IP 5 H 2 ER 2 BB 4 K

L - Kyle Roche 2-1 (Franklin Pierce) 4.2 IP 8 H 7 ER (8 R) 2 BB 4 K

Robbie Mills Sports Complex in Laconia N.H. - The Vermont Mountaineers (11-1) continued their dominance with a 12-2 victory over the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (5-6).

The Mountaineers made an early statement with three runs in the first inning. The runs came on RBI singles from Tyler Cox (Dartmouth) and Connor Huksak (VCU), as well as a reach on error by Stephen DiTomaso George Washington).

The Muskrats chipped away in the bottom of the first on a home run by Patrick Roche (Boston College) to make it 3-1. From there, it was all Vermont. The Mountaineers scored four runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, one in the seventh and one in the ninth. Vermont had three different hitters drive in multiple runs, including Gerry Siracusa (UMass Lowell), Cox, and DiTomaso.

They also had four players with multiple hits including Matthew Venuto (Fairfield), Hujsak, DiTomaso, and Christian Pregent (Stetson). The top offensive performer on the Muskrats was Jacob Corson (Bucknell) who went 3-4 with a home run.

The two teams will face each other again on Tuesday with the series shifting to Vermont. The game will be held at the Montpelier Recreation field at 6:30 p.m.
