Bristol Blues 6 - North Adams Steeplecats 5

L - Will Hearn 1-3 (San Francisco) 1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER (3 R), 1 BB, 2 K
Muzzy Field in Bristol C.T. - The Bristol Blues (31-12) defeated the North Adams Steeplecats (10-33) in a dramatic come-from-behind walk off effort to clinch a top-two seed and earn a bye into the Final Four of the NECBL playoffs.
With Bristol trailing 5-3 and down to its final three outs, the Blues got the first two batters on base in the top of the ninth via a double and a hit by pitch. When Jack Lynch (Manhattan) squared to bunt, the throw to first got away, causing both runners to score and Lynch going to third to tie the game with no one out. Three batters later, Jay Harry (Penn St.) delivered a second sac fly, this time to win the game and keep the Blues hopes at the number one seed alive.
The Steeplecats got on the board first after a Ryan Magdic (Florida Southern) sac fly in the top of the third. The Blues tied it in the third on an RBI single from Joseph Rios (Central Connecticut State). North Adams retook the lead in the fifth on yet another sac fly from Magdic to make it 2-1 Steeplecats.
Dan Galef (Franklin & Marshall) got things started on the mound for North Adams, cruising through six innings of one run ball. After his departure, North Adams collected an insurance run in the eighth thanks to an RBI single from Ryan Galanie (Wofford).
Bristol registered a first comeback in the bottom of the eighth when they scored two runs on a passed ball, and a game tying sac fly from Harry to make it 3-3. After North Adams got runners on second and third with one out in the ninth, Vincent Bianchina (Northwestern) gave the Steeplecats the lead on a two-run single to make it 5-3.
The Blues will conclude its regular season on the road to face the Danbury Westerners on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. If the Blues win and the Mountaineers lose, Bristol will have a chance at the number one seed in the playoffs. North Adams will conclude its season at Joe Wolfe field against the Valley Blue Sox on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Newport Gulls 10 - Ocean State Waves 3
W - Tyler Cortland 4-1 (Dartmouth): 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
L - Joe Cinnella 1-3 (Seton Hall): 5.1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Cardines Field in Newport, R.I. - The Newport Gulls (30-14) clinched the Coastal Division with a 10-3 victory over the Ocean State Waves (21-22).
Down 3-0, the Gulls scored all ten of their runs in the sixth inning, which included a grand slam by Jacob Burley (Brown), his second hit in the inning. Burley led off with a single, then Trent Farquhar (Michigan State) walked. Kolton Freeman (Dartmouth) hit an RBI double, then Colton Ledbetter (Mississippi State) hit an RBI groundout to make it 3-2. Slate Alford (Mississippi State) hit an RBI single to tie it. Noah Martinez (Central Connecticut State) followed that up with an RBI double to give the Gulls the lead. Joshua Kuroda-Grauer (Rutgers New Brunswick) hit a single, then Alec Makarewicz (East Carolina) hit an RBI single to make it 5-3. Luke Beckstein (Northeastern) walked to load the bases, then Burley hit a grand slam to make it 9-3. Later in the inning, Freeman hit a solo home run to make it 10-3.
The Gulls were in good hands on the pitching side, as Tyler Cortland shut the Waves out in the game's final four innings while not allowing a hit, only walking one batter, and striking six batters out.
The Waves' runs came early in the game on a Drew Holderbach (Marietta) RBI single, Chase Meggers (Oregon) RBI double, and an RBI fielder's choice in the top of the third inning.
The Gulls will be hosting a game in the Wild Card Round on Monday against the No. 6 seed in the playoffs. The Waves' lone remaining regular season game is today at 6:30 p.m. against the Mystic Schooners.
Martha's Vineyard 14 - Mystic Schooners 3
W - Zachary Clesas 4-1 (Wheaton): 4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
L - Zachary Simone 0-1 (Tampa): 1.1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich, C.T. - The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (28-15) crushed the Mystic Schooners (22-21) in an offensive explosion.
The Sharks got things started in the first, scoring two off a walk and a passed ball. RBIs from Danny Crossen (Northeastern), Thomas Bramley (Penn St), Harrison Brown (Austin Peay St) and a hit by pitch brought home four more Martha's Vineyard runners in the second to make it 6-0. A Luke Masiuk (Northeastern) single in the fourth put the Sharks up seven. Three in the top of the sixth thanks to Luke Masiuk, Harrison Brown and Ben Nardi (Catholic) RBIs increased the away team's advantage to 10-0.
Mystic finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Ferrer's (Connecticut) double gave the Schooners their first run of the afternoon. Eddie Micheletti (George Washington) and Logan Allen (Bryant) RBIs in the bottom of the eighth cut Mystic's deficit to seven. A Harrison Brown double and Luke Masiuk triple in the ninth each scored two, bringing the Sharks' total to fourteen.
Martha's Vineyard's Harrison Brown led all batters with five RBIs. Luke Masiuk was close behind with four. Masiuk and Michael Snyder (Washington) each had three hits for the Sharks. Kevin Ferrer was the only Schooner to reach base three times.
Martha's Vineyard hosts North Shore (13-29) today at 7:05 p.m. in its final regular season game. The Schooners travel to Ocean State (21-22) at 6:30 p.m.
Upper Valley Nighthawks 2 - Sanford Mainers 1

L - Ryan Douglas 2-2 (North Carolina Asheville): 6.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Maxfield Sports Complex in Hartford, VT - The Upper Valley Nighthawks (19-23) defeated the Sanford Mainers (20-22) in a pitcher's duel.
In the bottom of the second inning, Upper Valley's Clay Stearns (Troy) led off with a single. That was followed up by a Luca Trigiani (St. Joseph's) single and a Thomas Latham (Cisco JC) single. With men on first and second, Johnny Decker (Marist) hit an RBI double to provide the Nighthawks a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Tyler Sorrentino (Charleston) led off with a walk and stole second base. He was driven in on a Jonathan Hogart single.
The Mainers responded in the top of the eighth inning by scoring on an error to make it 2-1. They posed a threat in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Alex Knapp (George Mason) hit a double. But, Austin Walsh induced a pop up and struck the final batter out to secure the victory.
The Nighthawks will have the day off today before closing out their season tomorrow with a doubleheader against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats that starts at 1 p.m. The Mainers will be playing on the road against the Vermont Mountaineers at 6:30 p.m. today.
Vermont Mountaineers 8 - Keene Swamp Bats 3

L - Michael Ross 1-4 (Samford): 4.0 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Alumni Field in Keene, N.H. - The Vermont Mountaineers (32-11) defeated the Keene Swamp Bats (16-25) by the score of 8-3.
The scoring started in the top of the second inning when Vermont's Christian Pregent (Stetson) hit a 2-run home run. In the top of the third inning, with two outs, Santino Rosso (Hofstra) doubled, then Nic Notarangelo (Endicott) hit a 2-run home run to make it 4-0.
The Mountaineers were up 4-1 in the top of the seventh inning. Tyler Wells (New Haven) and Tyler Cox (Dartmouth) singled, then Mark Trotta (William & Mary) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Rosso hit a 2-run double, then Notarangelo hit a 2-run single to make it 8-1.
The Mountaineers will be hosting the Sanford Mainers today at 6:30 p.m. The Swamp Bats will be playing a doubleheader against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats that starts at 3:30 p.m. today.
Danbury Westerners 8 - Valley Blue Sox 4
W - Zach Grace 2-0 (Wake Forest): 6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
L - Damon Wesley 0-1 (Western New England): 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, MA - The Danbury Westerners (21-21) improved their playoff chances with an 8-4 victory over the Valley Blue Sox (16-27).
In a scoreless game, Danbury's Alex Stone (Duke) led off with a double. He was driven in on a Billy Gerlott (Penn State) single to put the Westerners on the board. Joseph Skarad (Sacred Heart) hit a single, then Jermaine White (St. John's), Skarad, and Gerlott all scored on an error by the left fielder. Korey Morton (Connecticut) followed that up with a solo home run to make it 5-0. In the next inning, Hank Thomas (Ohio State) hit a solo home run to extend the lead to six.
Valley responded in the bottom of the third inning. Steven Lutazzi (UMass Amherst) and Jacob Terwiliger (Bucknell) singled to lead the inning off, then Blaze Fadio (Lafayette) walked. Charlie Ludwick (Eastern Kentucky) cleared the bases with a 3-run double to make it 6-3. Chase Hanson (Hope International) brought the deficit to two with an RBI single.
Joseph Skarad responded by leading off the fourth with a solo home run. Four innings later, Morton hit his second home run of the day.
The Westerners held the Blue Sox in check after the third inning. Zach Grace and Curtis Clark combined for six shutout innings with seven strikeouts.
The Westerners will host the Bristol Blues at 6:30 p.m. today. The Blue Sox will be on the road to face the North Adams SteepleCats at 6:30 p.m.
