Martha's Vineyard Sharks 17 - North Shore Navigators 2

W - Rafe Schlesinger 2-0 (Miami): 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

L - Matt Potok 0-3 (Coastal Carolina): 3.0 IP, 11 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Fraser Field, Lynn, Mass. - The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (16-13) put up a season-high 17 runs in their victory over the North Shore Navigators (7-23) at Fraser Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Sharks outhit the Navigators 20-6 throughout the game, scoring at least one run in every inning except the fourth. Seven players recorded at least two hits for Martha's Vineyard with standout performances by Dorian Gonzalez (Miami) who had three hits, a double, and five RBIs while Harrison Brown (Austin Peay St.) went 3-for-5 with a double, four RBIs, and one run scored.

Other big contributors include Michael Snyder (Washington) who went 3-for-4 with two walks and three runs scored and Thomas Bramley who went 3-for-5 with runs scored and a walk. Danny Crossen (Northeastern), Cabot Maher (Villanova), and Logan Chambers (Tennessee) also had multi-hit performances.

The Navigators were led by Nathan Blasick (West Virginia) who had one hit, one RBI, and two walks.

The Sharks play on the road against the Ocean State Waves on Thursday, July 14th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. while the Navigators host the Valley Blue Sox on Friday, July 15th, starting at 6:35 p.m.

Keene Swamp Bats 12 - Upper Valley Nighthawks 1 (Gm. 1)

Alumni Field in Keene, N.H. - The Keene Swamp Bats (11-18) took down the Upper Valley Nighthawks (14-16) as the away team in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Swamp Bats took a quick lead in the second inning as Colin Wetterau (St Johns) another run was tallied later in the inning on an RBI single from Lucas Costello (Wake Forest). Keene struck again with another home run in the fourth by Matt Almonte (Pace) to make it 4-0.

Upper Valley responded with a leadoff home run from Johnathan Hogart (Louisiana Tech) to put the Nighthawks on the board. Keene ran away with the game in the sixth inning. The first scored on RBI singles from Costello and Carter Mathison (Indiana) later on, Watterau's bases loaded single scored three runs after a bad throw got out of play and allowed two more runners to score on the error. Wetterau later came around to score on a wild pitch. The Swamp Bats were up 10-1, but they weren't done yet. In the seventh, Paxton Tomaini (Florida Southwestern State) and Dan Covino (Central Connecticut State) both hit solo home runs to finish off a 12-1 dominating win.

Keene Swamp Bats 5 - Upper Valley Nighthawks 1 (Gm. 2)

Alumni Field in Keene, N.H. - The Keene Swamp Bats (12-18) took the second half of its doubleheader with the Upper Valley Nighthawks (14-17).

After two scoreless innings, Keene took the lead after a throw to catch a runner trying to steal third base went into left field. The Nighthawks made up for the error in the top of the fourth when William Sullivan (Troy) tied the game with a solo home run. The tie did not last long. In the bottom of the fourth, Matt Almonte (Pace) knocked a three run home run to put the Swamp Bats up 4-1. After Matthew Buchanan departed after a solid outing, Riley Skeen picked up where Buchanan left off, shutting down the Nighthawks offense. The Swamp Bats got one last run in the bottom of the sixth on the second home run of the day from Paxton Tomaini (Florida Southwestern State) to seal the deal on a doubleheader sweep.

The Swamp Bats will remain at Alumni Field to take on the Sanford Mainers on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Nighthawks will return to Maxfield Sports Complex to face the division leading Vermont Mountaineers for the third time in the last week. The game will be on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Winnipesaukee Muskrats 10 - Sanford Mainers 9

Robbie Mills Sports Complex in Laconia, N.H.- The Winnipesaukee Muskrats (13-16) had a close game against the Sanford Mainers (13-16) as they won by one run, 10-9.

The Mainers got up on the board right away in the first when first baseman Aidan Kane (Delaware) made it home due to an error by pitcher Patrick Harrington (Northeastern) for a 1-0 lead. The Mainers continued the momentum in the top of the second with another run after a single hit by right fielder Alex Knapp (George Mason) brought home left fielder Joey Rezek (East Carolina) but the Muskrats cut their lead by one first baseman Jack Thorbahn (Northeastern) went big with a home run to make it 2-1. In the third and fourth innings, Sanford exploded with six runs with a double and run by Rezek after a fielder's choice and a single by catcher Adam Dapkewicz (Georgetown) to move up 8-1.

The Muskrats began their rally to comeback in the fifth when they racked up eight runs while holding the Mainers to just one hit in a three inning span to get themselves up 9-8. To highlight the offensive strike was catcher Zach DeMattio (Wheaton) with a big hit out of the park and third baseman Matthew Alifano (Adelphi) with another homer that brought himself and Thorbahn home in just the sixth inning.

Sanford made an attempt to tie the game in the eighth and take the win with a run by center fielder Calvin Hewett (Vanderbilt) on a wild pitch but they were stalled out after the Muskrats responded with a hit by DeMattio and slammed the door in the ninth to capture a 10-9 win.

The Muskrats get a break then head to the Shark Tank to take on Martha's Vineyard Sharks (16-13) on Friday at 7:05pm while the Mainers try to gain back momentum when they face the Keene Swamp Bats (12-18) on the road tomorrow at 6:30pm.

Vermont Mountaineers 8 - Mystic Schooners 3

L - Jared Burrows 1-2 (Bryant): 0.0 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Montpelier Recreation Field, Montpelier, V.T. - The Vermont Mountaineers (25-4) downed the Mystic Schooners (18-12) thanks to a late-inning surge.

Vermont entered the bottom of the seventh down one, but a four-run inning gave it the lead. An error and RBIs from Tyler Cox (Dartmouth) and Mark Trotta (William & Mary) gave the Mountaineers a 6-3 lead. Vermont added two more in the eight after another error and a wild pitch to extend its lead to five. The Mountaineers recorded four of their ten hits in the seventh and eighth innings.

Vermont jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third off a Tom Josten (Central Florida) single. The Schooners and Mountaineers traded runs in the fourth before Mystic scored two more in the fifth to take a one-run lead. A single by Eddie Micheletti (George Washington) and a double from Addison Kopack (Rhode Island (U of)) put the Schooners up. It would be the last offense Mystic had all night as Vermont scored the last six runs.

Mystic's Mason LaPlante (Georgia) and Vermont's Tyler Cox both lead their respective teams with three hits. Mountaineers reliever Brendan McFall (Tufts) earned the win after pitching the last two and a third innings. McFall struck out six of the nine batters he faced.

Vermont travels to Upper Valley to face the Nighthawks (14-17) today at 6:00 p.m. Mystic has an off day before hosting the Mainers (13-16) tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

Newport Gulls 6 - Bristol Blues 3

L - Michael Thomas Morrissey 1-2 (Bryant): 0.1 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Cardines Field, Newport, R.I. - The Newport Gulls (20-11) beat the Bristol Blues (22-8) after a four-run eighth inning.

Newport entered the bottom of the eighth down one and quickly put two men on with one out. Slate Alford (Mississippi St) drove in both Gulls with a double to take a one-run lead. Alford led the Gulls in hits on the night, going three for three. A passed ball and a Noah Martinez (Central Connecticut St) solo shot extended Newport's advantage to 6-3.

The Gulls jumped out to a two-run lead in the first after RBIs from Colton Ledbetter (Samford) and Slate Alford. Bristol responded with a Chaz Myers (Pacific) solo home run in the third to cut the deficit to one. The Blues scored two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead following another Myers RBI and a Matt Smith (Southern Connecticut St) single. The game stayed scoreless until Newport's four-run eighth inning.

Newport's relievers were lights out. After entering the game down one in the fourth, the combination of Peter Sakellaris (Virginia Tech), Josh Grosz (East Carolina) and Daniel Blair (Texas Austin) gave up just five hits and struck out seven.

Newport has an off day today before hosting the Westerners (13-18) tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. Bristol heads home to face the SteepleCats (7-22) today at 6:30 p.m.
