(LANCASTER, CA) - The lead changed hands like a hot potato several times Tuesday night at Clear Channel Stadium. The JetHawks led twice, but the High Desert Mavericks led three times, including the last time, as they beat Lancaster 9-8 for their second straight win over the JetHawks and their fifth straight overall.

High Desert jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first but Lancaster wiped out the lead in their half of the inning. Dennis Blackmon hit a grand slam to cap a six-run frame and put the JetHawks up 6-4.

The see-saw ride continued for the next several innings. The Mavericks tied the game in the second only to see a Lars Anderson home run put Lancaster back on top. High Desert tied the game in the third, then took the lead in the fourth before the JetHawks fought back to tie.

A seventh inning run for High Desert proved the difference. The JetHawks put the tying run aboard in each of their final three turns at the plate but were unable to push the runner across.

Josh Reddick led Lancaster with three singles, the fourth straight contest in which he's had at least two hits. Anderson and Reza each had two hits of their own while Jorge Jimenez and Chih-Hsien Chiang each saw their hit streaks snapped at six.

The JetHawks conclude a three-game homestand Wednesday night against High Desert. Travis Beazley (3-7) starts for Lancaster while Alfredo Venegas (3-3) will start for the Mavericks. The game begins at 7:00 PM. The JetHawks Clubhouse Show on Magic 1340 AM and online at www.JetHawks.com will begin at 5:00. Special guests include JetHawks manager Chad Epperson.
