LAKELAND,FL- Less than one week away for the Lakeland Raider to begin their 2012 UIFL Championship Journey! The Lakeland Raiders first were introduced to Lakeland on September 15th 2011 with an impressive press conference and vowed to work hard and long to bring a championship to Lakeland. Owner and head coach, Michael Mink has remained completely faithful to his words, and after countless hours of work and restless nights, the Lakeland Raiders will soon be ready to hit the field and show not only Lakeland, but everyone in the Indoor/Arena football profession that the Lakeland Raiders are here to stay and are a force to be reckoned with. "All In" is a slogan Michael and his players have solidly embraced, because these players have been looking high and wide for the opportunity to showcase their talents to the world!
The Lakeland Raiders roster features a strong Florida and southern based team, rich with players from Central and South Florida as well as players from Georgia and Louisiana. Many of these players have played at the high school, college, and even professional football levels. There are also local Lakeland hometown players that are eager to showcase their talents in the field to the home town crowd. "I am proud to say we have a strong local team, and I feel like we are sitting on a gold mine of talent being based in Lakeland. We have players that some teams have over looked and now I am here to show that the talent level in Lakeland and Central and South Florida can compete with any talent in the nation. These young athletes are hungry to play and hungry to win a championship," explained coach Mink.
The Lakeland Raiders will open their Inaugural Season with a home game on March 10th against the Rome Rampage. The Lakeland Raiders are proud to announce that Sheriff Grady Judd will be doing the game toss honors. "In my 39-year law enforcement career, I have learned that our community is filled with real-life heroes. Our military personnel and emergency responders run into peril when all others are running out - often making the ultimate sacrifice. We can depend on them to put their lives on the line to protect us - day in and day out. I applaud the Lakeland Raiders for recognizing our everyday heroes at their first game. Community support makes our job worthwhile - you care and so do we," commented Sheriff Grady Judd.
The Lakeland Raiders will be introducing their opening night as "Heroes Night" to thanks all the servicemen and woman for their sacrifices to protect our country. Servicemen and service woman will have a ticket price range of $7 to $18 at the box office with photo ID. The Lakeland Raiders also want all the fans to show their support for all of our fallen service men and woman and to honor them by wearing a black attire to conduct a "black out." The Lakeland Raiders will be featuring their new uniforms for the 2012 Season. The Marines, one of the many great partners of the Lakeland Raiders will also be featured with an exciting surprise for the fans before the game.
