The Ice Is In At The LEC: Bucks To Announce Player Signings Thursday

LAREDO, TX- It's the phrase that all hockey fans around the world love to hear. "The ice is in". That's what the staff of the LEC and the Bucks were saying today, as as a ribbon cutting ceremony took place to open the ice season in Laredo.
The LEC and Bucks staff were on hand, as well as members of the media and community. The ribbon was cut by Laredo National Bank's Executive Vice President Edward Whitworth, Bucks President John Beckelhymer, and LEC General Manager Jalinna Jones.
The Bucks and the LEC also introduced their new ice tech for the season Art Cullaton. Art is the father of former Bucks All-Star Brent Cullaton. Art has extensive ice experience, including a stint working at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo. Art and the arena staff spent over 30 hours laying approximently 15,000 gallons of water to create the ice surface.
The ice season will open up on Friday as the AHL's San Antonio Rampage play host to the Houston Aeros in a pre-season game at the LEC, and with the Bucks hosting a pre-season game against division foe Corpus Christi October 10th. Bucks second-year All-Star forward Chris Korchinski is expected to play for the Rampage on Friday.
On Friday the Aeros will practice at the LEC in the morning before taking the ice later that night against the Rampage. The Bucks open two-a-day practices at the LEC on Monday, October 8th at 10am.
*BUCKS TO ANNOUNCE PLAYER SIGNINGS THURSDAY*
The Bucks will hold a press conference on Thursday September 27th at 2pm to announce the re-signing of returning players for the upcoming 2007-08 season. The event will be held at Doctors Hospital in the main lobby. The media and fans are invited to come to hear the latest player signings.
Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski will be on hand to make the announcement. Ruskowski and the players will be available for interviews after the press conference.
The Bucks, who open training camp October 8th, have announced the re-signing of seven returning players, Jeff Bes, Steve Weidlich, Paul Elliott, Team Captain Serge Dube, Steve Simoes, Chris Korchinski, and Jeff Genovy.
Laredo will open the 2007-08 season on a three-game road trip starting October 19th in New Mexico. The home opener is set for October 26th against division foe Corpus Christi. Single game tickets will go on sale for the first six home games of the season on October 10th. For tickets call 718-BUCK (2825).
