OPEN TRYOUTS THIS SUNDAY!!!!! Open Tryouts will take place this Sunday at old Cardinal Stadium at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. Participants can begin checking in at Noon and the tryouts will start at 1 p.m. The cost is $40 and each participant will receive a t-shirt and a ticket to opening night.

CHEERLEADER AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED... Auditions for the 2004 Louisville Fire Dance Team have been announced, and they will take place on Saturday November 1 starting at 10:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to audition must be 21 by January 1, 2004. The try-outs will take place at Broadbent Arena and all participants must wear workout or dance attire. The tryouts will consist of two sessions, both taking place on November 1. If you would like more information on the tryouts call 368-0009 and ask for Tricia, or e-mail her at kern@firefootball.com.

NAME THE TEAM... The cheerleaders are also looking for a name, we still have a lot the suggestions from last season, but we would like more. Send in you suggestion by 5 P.M. on Tuesday and the best suggestions will appear in next week's Fire Wire.

HONOR in WAR runs SECOND... Fire owner/operator Will Wolford's horse ran second last weekend in the Grade 1 Shadwell Mile. Honor in War will race in the Breeder's Cup Mile at Santa Anita in three weeks.

CLARKSVILLE GETS FIRST VICTORY OF 2004... Fire FB/LB Demetrius Forney is an assistant coach at Clarksville High School in Southern Indiana, and they got win number one this weekend with a 46-13 victory over North Harrison. Clarksville (1-6) will face Eastern Green on Friday Night. Fire assistant Oscar Brohm and the Trinity Shamrocks continued their winning ways as the Rocks beat Eastern 41-10. Trinity (2-4) will play at Shelby County on Friday. The Fern Creek Tigers and former Fire OS Anthony Payton lost to Southern on Thursday night 35-0. The Tigers (3-4) will play at Seneca on Friday. Fire OL/DL coach Pat Chitwood and the St. X Tigers got back on the winning track with a 47-0 win over Iroquios. The Tigers (4-2) will face Atherton on Friday. Fire WR/LB Alfonzo Browning and J-Town lost to Central, 32-13 on Friday. The Chargers (4-2) will play at Waggener on Friday.

BUDWEISER FLICK BALL ON DIXIE TONIGHT... Flick ball will return to Buffalo Wild Wings on Dixie Highway tonight at 8 P.M. The University of Kentucky Wildcats will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks tonight and former UK wide receiver and Fire WR/LB Alfonzo Browning will be on hand to watch the game with fellow UK fans. Fire FB/LB Demetrius Forney will also make his Flick Ball return tonight.

FREE COLTS TICKETS, SUITE!!! Don't forget this month's season ticket drawing is for tickets to the Colts/New York Jets game. There will be two winners this month, each receiving two tickets to Fire owner/operator Will Wolford's suite at the Colts game.
