THOMPSON NAMED ALL-af2... Fire DS Arkee Thompson has been named All-af2 First Team. See the attached press release for more information. THE GRAND RE-OPENING of Toy's R Us stores on Dixie Highway and the Outer Loop will take place on Friday, August 15 from 8-10 a.m. and Fire players, cheerleaders, AXE, brought to you by Silver Creek Flooring, and head coach Tommy Johnson will be on hand for the grand reopening.

AXE & HIS MASCOT BUDDIES will attempt to pull a Hercules Plane this Saturday at the Special Olympics Plane Pull at the airport. Come out and cheer on AXE and all of the other plane pull participates as they raise money for the Special Olympics.

MEMORY WALK 2003... The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk 2003 will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at Waterfront Park and you can sponsor Fire General Manager Dave Arnold. 2004 SEASON TICKETS are now on sale. Tickets start at just $49 for all eight home games. New for 2004 every season ticket account will receive free parking for all eight home games and their will be a new kids zone in Freedom Hall. Also for every $100 you spend on tickets you will be entered into a monthly drawing for various prizes such as NFL tickets, NFL memorabilia, and trips, ect. For the month of August anyone who renews or buys tickets and pays will have a chance to win two tickets to a World Series game. AXE AT THE FAIR... Silver Creek Flooring present AXE at the 2003 Kentucky State Fair. During the State Fair AXE will be wondering around the Fair the next 10 days, while he is out and about the first person to tell AXE they subscribe to the FIRE WIRE will get $30 in gift certificates to BW3's.

ROAD TO THE ARENACUP ROLLS ON... The af2 playoffs are down to the Final 4. Last weekend the Arkansas Twisters upset the number one seeded Quad City Steamwheelers 63-61, on a last second field goal, to advance to the National Conference semi-finals where they will take on the Tulsa Talons. Tulsa defeated Hawaii 58-38 by scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the final 3:06 of the game. The two teams will meet on Saturday night in Tulsa at 8:30 Eastern time. The American Conference also saw an upset as the Macon Knights upset the number two-seeded Albany Conquest 59-47. On the other side of the bracket the number one seeded Tennessee Valley Vipers defeated the upset minded Mohegan Wolves 47-30. Tennessee Valley and Macon will square off in Tennessee Valley on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m.

NEW ADDITION TO THE COACHING WATCH... Former Fire OS Anthony Payton is an assistant coach at Fern Creek High School. In addition to Payton Fire players Demetrius Forney and Alfonzo Browning are helping out at local high schools as assistant coaches during 2003. Forney is an assistant coach at Clarksville High School in Southern Indiana and Fire WR/LB Alfonzo Browning returns to J-Town High School as an assistant this season. Fire assistant coach Oscar Brohm is also an assistant at Trinity High School. As the season progress we will keep you updated on each teams progress.
