The Evolution of Change

February 7, 2014 - X-League (X-League)
Florida Marine Raiders News Release

The Florida Marine Raiders have been diligently working throughout the offseason to improve in every aspect of the organization. It began with the team joining the newly founded X-League and continued by overhauling much of the organizations internal structure.

The coaching staff has been altered to optimize the team's output and preparation heading into what will be the most challenging season yet. The opponents that the Raiders will face in the X-League will be substantially better and the coaching staff has made it clear they're up to the challenge.

Head Coach Michael Mink previously oversaw the offensive play calling for the Raiders in their first two seasons. This year, however, Mink will be shifting over to Defensive Coordinator where he'll oversee the line backing and defensive back corps. Mink was always a defensive minded coach but felt his abilities were more beneficial on offense in the team's first two seasons.

Myqual Spann aka Coach "Q" had previously overseen the running back and wide receiver corps and has since been promoted to Offensive Coordinator. Mink believes that Spann has proven his knowledge and abilities throughout the team's first two seasons and is comfortable turning the reins over for 2014. Coach Spann has had experience at every level of the indoor game having played for several years and coached thereafter.

Jeff Bingle, previously the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach, has revamped his role to sustain both sides of the trenches. Coach Bingle is now the Head Interior Lines Coach and will oversee the preparation for the offensive and defensive lines respectively. Coach Bingle has been with the team since its inception in 2012 and has adamantly worked to achieve a vast knowledge and understanding of the indoor game.

George Terrell Jr. has been with the organization since the 2012 season also. Coach G has focused on the defensive line for most of his career with the Raiders and will assume an increased role as an Assistant Coach. Terrell will be working in conjunction with Coach Mink focusing on improving the teams overall athletic ability and players individual performances.
