
The Dayton Air Strikers Shut Down the Admirals Run and Gun Offense

St. Joseph, MI. - The Dayton Air Strikers shut down Lake Michigan's run and gun offense, outscoring the Admirals 96-86 at Lake Michigan Catholic, Saturday night.
The Admirals were 20 points below their season average and held to 38.3% from the field. Lake Michigan was up early, but the Air Strikers used a 9-2 run at the end of the second quarter to take a 46-40 halftime lead. The quarter saw seven lead changes.
Lake Michigan's third quarter jinks appeared to be over when they tied the game at 58 with just under six minutes left. Dayton's William Harris caught fire, scoring 13 of his game high 31 points. An 18-5 Air Striker attack pushed the lead to 15 for the visitors after Admirals' newcomer 6'10" Colby Batiste broke his cheek bone and had to be rushed to the hospital. "That was the turning point in the game," quoted Coach Che Eddie.
The Admirals fought back to within one, 83-82 before Harris caught on fire again adding 12 more points including six for six at the line to seal the win.
Lake Michigan(0-6) was led by Florentino Valencia with 25 points. Steve Strong added 14. The Air Strikers (3-4) had three others in double figures, Brandon Hassell with 15, Mark Gomillia with 13, and Brandon Russ with 12. Gomillia remained perfect on the season at the free throw line, now 15for 15.
The Admirals next game is Saturday, February 18th against the Rochester RazorSharks at Lake Michigan Catholic. Tip off is at 6:00pm.
