The Blame Game

by Jerry Hewitt
May 24, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)

Here's the deal, I don't have the inclination to talk any longer on a league that refuses to help itself, but there are a couple of things that need to be addressed.

First, since it appears that Twin City is dead. The website is gone and phones are disconnected by one report. I feel the league, Twin City or the Copperheads need to let fans know what the situation is. Some from Texas are planning on making the trip and really would like to know. I realize the usual plan of attack is ignore the fan, no need to know, but how about a change just this once.

I hear down in Tennessee, unpaid River Shark players have or will get an attorney to get what is due them. Good move on their part! I hope they use the sports attorney the Mauler players had, as things seemed to move quickly in the players' favor when he got involved.

I heard from a good source that the NIFL leadership might be trying to hang their media/web person out to dry over the NFL logo on the league and team sites. Now he may be responsible for content on league-authorized sites, but I doubt he is at fault for the NFL logo being so proudly displayed if he knew there wasn't a deal. In my opinion, whether he knew or not, I doubt it was his decision for its to be on the website. But it does seem that over the last couple of months we've seen some trying to blame others for their mistakes.
