Texiera Named Dinger Bats TCL Pitcher of the Week
Brandon Texiera of the Texas Marshals has been named the Dinger Bats Pitcher of the Week for week four of the Texas Collegiate League season. Texiera made his first start of the season a memorable one, tossing seven shutout innings on June 20 against the Victoria Generals.
Texiera, a freshman right-hander from Louisiana State University - Shreveport, allowed just three hits in the game, all of them singles, and did not walk a batter while striking our four to earn his first win of the season as the Marshals shutout the Generals 2-0. Texiera retired 12 straight hitters at one point during the contest.
Texiera is 1-1 on the season with a save in six appearances. He has struck out eight batters in 13.1 innings and has a 2.70 ERA.
This is the Marshal's second weekly TCL award of the 2014 season. Jace Reese was named Dinger Bats Player of the Week for week two of the season.
Texiera and the Marshals have Monday and Tuesday off before returning to action on Wednesday in a doubleheader with the East Texas Pump Jacks. The first game will start at 5:00pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
Tonight at Village Burger Bar on Inwood Road, the Marshals will have their third installment of The Marshals Coaches Show starting at 7:00pm presented by Davradio Productions and the North Texas Sports Network. Fans who are interested in attending the event are encouraged to get there early to be a part of the live audience.
