Champions Indoor Football has named defensive back DeWayne Autrey Week 1 CIF Defensive Player of the Week after his dominant performance against the Dallas Marshals in a 38-37 overtime loss.

Autrey had the team's only sack, had two tackles for loss and had a whopping 15 total tackles, which leads the league after one week. Autrey went to Bethany College and has spent time with the Salina Bombers, Sioux City Bandits and Dodge City Law in the CIF.

Autrey next hits the field at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco Saturday March 17 against the Duke City Gladiators on Military Empowerment Night. Call 972-422-PASS for details on how the Revs are paying for a portion of Military tickets.

Revs fall to Marshals in CIF opener, overtime

Texas Revolution Communications

The Texas Revs dug themselves a 16-point hole last Saturday at Fair Park Coliseum and mistakes down the stretch led to a blown lead and a 38-37 loss to rival Dallas on opening weekend in Champions Indoor Football.

After taking a lead for the first time in the game (31-28, 7:02 remaining) on a LaDon Hudson touchdown reception and two-point conversion from quarterback Brandon Crawford, Texas had a chance to ice the game by converting on a 4th and goal with less than 30 seconds to play. The pass was intercepted - Crawford's only turnover of the game - and returned 27 yards by Justin Backus to set the Marshals up in field goal range.

That brought on Marshals kicker Thomas Logan, who made his sixth field goal (6-for-6 earning CIF Special Teams Player of the Week) to force overtime. In overtime, the Revolution scored first on a Jarrel Kelly reception, but kicker Dylan Calder - who made a career-long 48-yard field goal earlier in the game - missed the extra point, leaving the door open for Dallas to end the game with a touchdown and an extra point.

That's exactly what the Marshals did, a strike to the short corner of the endzone to Taquan West and a made extra point that sent the downtown crowd into a frenzy. The defending champs were knocked off, and lost in Dallas for the third year in a row. It was the first passing touchdown of the day for Dallas.

Revs standout receiver Clinton Solomon was held to one catch for 5 yards. Darius Fudge had only 9 yards on 7 carries and needed help from Crawford (26 yards) and Jordan Brown (26 yards) to keep the Revs balanced. Marcel Brooks had an interception and Dewayne Autrey had the team's lone sack.

Texas returns home after a bye week on March 17 to take on the Duke City Gladiators, the last team that managed to take down Texas at home. Since then, the Revolution are on a four-game home winning streak.
