Texas Revolution Update

March 17, 2015 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Texas Revolution News Release

The Revs Grab a Win vs The Bandits

Coming off a penalty driven loss to Salina, the Revolution hit the road again for the second straight week visiting the San Angelo Bandits, led by first year coach, Joey Longoria.

Losing the toss, the Revs kicked to the Bandits who took the opening drive in for six; with the PAT missed, Texas would return the favor on the ensuing drive and take the lead in true indoor football fashion, going up 7-6.

Opening the second quarter the Revs defense stood tall once again, forcing long field goals. The Texas defense would force a botched field goal attempt that flushed the holder to the near side boards and finish the play with an interception by Jeff Willis. Finally getting a spark on offense, Running Back Darius Fudge would seemingly take over the game until a failed pitch attempt would relate in a fumble that the bandits would return for a Touchdown. At the half, San Angelo would lead 30-27.

Receiving the kick to begin the second half the Revolution came out with the intention to prove a point. Continuing the ground and pound game with Fudge who had 20 carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Texas opened throwing lanes for Quarterback Robert Kent, who threw for 176 yards, going 16-22 with 3 touchdowns.

Keeping the game tight, San Angelo would keep trying the deep ball, beating the revs twice for touchdowns. Bandits Quarterback, Crawford would go 12-23 for 193 yards and 1 touchdown; Crawford threw 2 interceptions (Benning & Willis) and was sacked 3 times.

Special teams and penalties still plagued Texas, with Palmer going 4-5 in extra points and missing on one field goal attempt the Revs also accumulated 64 yards on 9 penalties. Being consistent, Frankie Solomon Jr. had 6 kick returns for 96 yards, and forced a fumble that enabled Texas to kill the clock ending the game.

Texas (1-1) returns to the Allen Event Center taking on New Mexico Friday, March 20 at 7PM. The game will be generating revenue for Cancer research and awareness in conjunction with the American cancer Society and Carson's Crusaders. The Revolution are proud members of the professional league, Champions Indoor Football.

Here Comes New Mexico

Coming off a two week road trip the Revs look to move above .500 for the first time in 2015 and are showing a very impressive defensive effort. Keeping CIF opponents to an average of 35 points per game, the Revs defense has combined for 4 interceptions, 2 fumbles and 4 sacks and are keeping pass heavy offenses in check.

Leading the charge are Revolution veterans Demario Dixon (1.5 sacks) and Frankie Solomon Jr. (2 Int.) along with rookie Robert Williams who has 5 pass deflections and currently leads the team in tackles with 10.

With New Mexico visiting Allen for the first time and having no CIF experience they are sure to bring a group of eager players led by savy Head Coach, Dominic Bramante. In tonight's actionlook for Texas running back Darius Fudge to continue his explosive comeback. Already racking up 126 yards on the ground he has found the end-zone 3 times in two games. Fudge looks to have found a remedy for holding on to the rock, only putting the ball on the turf once in 35 touches.

As always, get your Cannons up and God Bless Texas!
