Texas Revolution Jockey for Playoff Spot
May 22, 2015 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Texas Revolution News Release
Texas faces its most important road game in franchise history this weekend. Going into the snake pit of Amarillo, the Revs are in 4th place of the CIF standings, and are a half game out of first. Trailing the Venom based on winning percentage, these two teams play for the third and final time in the 2015 regular season.
This Rubber match sets up for a near playoff like game. With both teams getting wins at home so far, the Revs have outscored the Venom 96-82 in the season series, however the Venom did give Texas their worst loss (10 Points) of the year.
WHAT TO WATCH:
Take a look at the CIF's Defensive player of the week, Taylor McCuller. Getting his first action against San Angelo Last Week McCuller proved that he is a force at linebacker. With the Venom getting their first look at this refined Revs defense McCuller could be a difference maker as he returns to the panhandle for the first time since suiting up for the West Texas A&M Buffalos.
Containing Nate Davis continues to be a struggle for the Revs. In their last meeting Davis threw for 146 yards, and ran for another 47. Although Texas did turn the ball over twice in the game giving Davis a short field, minimizing his abilities is the key to success.
PLAYOFF PURSUIT:
Currently sitting in fourth place, the Revs could be tied for 1st after this weekend. With a win and a Wichita loss the Revs could move into the driver's seat for a home playoff game and their first ever playoff appearance. Taking care of their own business, Texas has the opportunity to gain control of the CIF by wining each of the next two games wish some help.
McCuller CIF Player of the Week
Taylor McCuller was signed May 12 and started for the Revs on May 16 against the Bandits. The former Patriot gathered 12 tackles, 4 of which had been for a loss and 1 sack in his indoor football debut. The Revs newcomer was also awarded Defensive player of the week by the CIF.
