Texas Tycoons News Release
Dallas, TX - The Texas Tycoons opened the 2007 WBA season with an impressive win, defeating the visiting Mississippi Miracles 130-111 on Friday. The WBA season opener for both western division teams was a good game with a tie after one quarter at 27 a piece. The 2nd quarter was also very competitive as each team took it's turn making runs at the other but the Tycoons held a small advantage at the half of 58-52 due in most part to the exciting play of Chris Davis (6'5''-G-80, Agency: www.gladiatorsports.us college: N.Texas).
Davis led all scorers with 30 points on 11 of 13 shooting from the field, 1 of 2 from 3 point land, to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The third quarter is where the Tycoons broke the game open, outscoring the Miracles 42-24 en route to a 100-76 score going into the final quarter.
Each team traded baskets from there but the damage had already been done and Tycoons head coach Chris Terrell said Davis "CD" was the key for Texas "Teams are really going to have problems with CD all season. At 6'5 225 he creates alot of matchup problems for 2s at this level, he pretty much gets to where he wants. He has the size at the 2 to get to the rim at will and the ups to rise up over people with his shot. He has NBA range and a very deceptively quick first step. Forwards can't stay in front of him and guards are just overmatched. We're hoping that this season can be the launching pad for CD to the next level. Chris Davis is a bonified NBA prospect and we're going to do everything possible for teams to see him this summer."
