Texas Legends Acquire Fourth Pick in NBA D-League Draft

Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX - When you're the Texas Legends, one draft isn't enough.

The Legends received the fourth pick in the 2010 Development League Draft via a lottery at the D-League's annual coaches' meeting in Dallas earlier this week.

The Legends will use the draft to add to their inaugural roster on Nov. 1.

"The fourth pick is a great spot to be in the D-League draft format," Legends President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb commented. "We will have an opportunity to get an exceptional player in the first round, and yet there will still be very good talent for us in the second round with the 13th selection."

The draft flows in a "snake" format, such that the draft order of the 16 teams flips in each round. Thus, the Legends will have the fourth pick in the first round, and the 13th pick in the second, and so on throughout eight rounds of the draft.

"The lottery is always an exciting time because it signals the tip-off a new NBA D-League season," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "With the Draft order in place, teams are one step closer to determining their opening day rosters for the 2010-11 season."

The Reno Bighorns secured the first overall pick, followed by the New Mexico Thunderbirds and the Maine Red Claws. Following the Legends will be the Springfield Armor.

The order of the first round will be:

1. Reno Bighorns

2. New Mexico Thunderbirds

3. Maine Red Claws

4. Texas Legends

5. Springfield Armor

6. Iowa Energy

7. Rio Grande Valley Vipers

8. Utah Flash

9. Dakota Wizards

10. Fort Wayne Mad Ants

11. Sioux Falls Skyforce

12. Bakersfield Jam

13. Tulsa 66ers

14. Austin Toros

15. Erie BayHawks

16. Idaho Stampede
