Prince George Cougars News Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are thrilled to announce TELUS has donated $2,500 to the 2020 Virtual Teddy & Toque Toss in support of The Salvation Army in Prince George.

"The Cougars and our city are very fortunate to have amazing community supporters like TELUS. This donation will go a long way to replacing the thousands of items that normally would have been donated at our Teddy & Toque Toss game, and I know families in need will be extremely grateful for the generosity shown by TELUS," said Cougars Vice President, Business Andy Beesley.

With today's announcement, over $7,200 has already been raised for the Teddy & Toque Toss, smashing the original goal of $5,000. The Cougars are looking to reach a new goal of $10,000. The public can still donate by going to www.pgcougars.com or The Salvation Army's website (www.sapg.ca). All donations made to the Virtual Teddy & Toque Toss are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

"The Teddy & Toque Toss embodies the spirit of giving in Prince George; because of the partnership between the Cougars and The Salvation Army, children living in vulnerable households across the community have been given the promise of a joyous Christmas," said Major Neil Wilkinson of The Salvation Army. "TELUS' spirit of giving is a welcome addition to the Teddy & Toque toss partnership, and we celebrate how together we can bring hope to the community."

"This has been a challenging year for many, and when things are at their worst, residents in Prince George can count on the TELUS team to be at their best," said Brian Bettis, TELUS General Manager for Northern B.C. "Since the beginning of March, TELUS has dedicated $150 million to support Canadians through the COVID-19 crisis, and we are proud to support the Prince George Cougars and the local Salvation Army this holiday season. Even though we can't celebrate and give in person at the Teddy & Toque Toss game, we hope this inspires others in a position to give to support our local community this holiday season."

"Whether it is our team member volunteering their time at local charities, donating spaces and resources, or bringing world-class network to residents, it is our commitment to give where we live, and since the beginning of March, TELUS has dedicated $150 million to support Canadians through the COVID-19 crisis," says Brian Bettis, General Manager at TELUS. "TELUS has long supported the region and are proud to donate $2,500 in support of the Prince George Cougars, The Salvation Army in Prince George, and the residents of the community."
