DURHAM, NC - PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Sussex Skyhawks INF Chris Brown and New Jersey Jackals LHP Isaac Pavlik as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Brown played in seven games this past week for the surging Skyhawks. He batted .414 with three home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored. He collected 12 hits to go with a slugging percentage of .793 and an on-base percentage of .455. This past Saturday in an 8-2 victory over the New Jersey Jackals, Brown went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a home run. Currently, the Miramar, FL native is hitting .323 with eight home runs and 35 runs batted in.
The 24-year-old Brown is in his third season of professional baseball. The previous two seasons were spent with Joliet of the Northern League.
Pavlik hurled a sensational game this past Thursday in a 6-2 win over the Nashua Pride. He went strong eight innings allowing no runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Pavlik is now 7-4 on the season with a 3.61 ERA in 99 2/3 innings pitched.
The Rutherford, NJ resident was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2002 draft. He spent two plus seasons with the Rockies farm system from 2002-2004. He also pitched in 2006 with West Tenn of the Chicago Cubs organization going 2-1 with an earned run average of 3.38. This is his third year with New Jersey.
