Valley Blue Sox News Release

BOSTON, MA - Fenway Park has been home to a lot of historic events in its 99 year history, but on Monday it got to add another one to its list as Team USA and Team NECBL clshed there or the first time in history.

The game started out with both pitchers dualing, but in the second inning Blue Sox catcher Tom Murphy gave the NECBL the 1-0 lead with asolo home run over the Green Monster off of Team USA pitcher Kevin Gausman.

Team USA would not go unheard though as Dominic Ficociello singled in Josh Elander from third base to tie the game at one apiece. In the sixth inning Team NECBL jumped on Tom Windle as it scored two runs on back-to-back RBI singles by Mystic catcher Joe Hudson and New Bedford catcher Brandon Miller to give the NECBL a 3-1 lead.

The bottom of the sixth was almost very costly for Team NECBL as three consecutive errors allowed Tyler Naquin, from Texas A&M, to score making it 3-2.

That would be the final score as Team NECBL threw the kitchen sink and more at Team USA as all the pitchers on the NECBL's roster threw in the game.

The winning pitcher was Keen pitcher Jeff Thompson, the loss went to Windle and the save went to David Carroll.
