TCL Flying Chanclas Announce 2021 Roster

San Antonio - The San Antonio Flying Chanclas have announced their roster for the upcoming 2021 Texas Collegiate League season. They will begin with 29 active players.

The team is mostly comprised of local talent from the San Antonio area. The Flying Chanclas will also have players from Corpus Christi, Georgetown, Devine, Mission, Boerne, Mansfield, Round Rock, Floresville, Harlingen, Bishop, Helotes, Spring Branch, and Hondo.

Some players will be away from the team to start the year while they finish conference tournaments.

Out of the local talent, three players went to Ronald Reagan High School (Cale Wagoner, JT Moeller, and Will Carsten).

Three players went to Brandeis High School (Ryan McGowen, Ty Fontenot, and Zac Vooletich).

Numerous universities are being represented on this year's Chanclas team. From local schools like Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake, UTSA, and St. Mary's to universities like TCU, Texas A&M, and New Mexico.

Four players are returning from the 2020 TCL Flying Chanclas team.

Connor Schmidt, a pitcher from Devine High School, is currently attending St. Mary's University. Matthew Sesler, a pitcher from Harlingen High School, is currently attending Texas A&M - Kingsville. Ryan Flores, a first baseman from Carroll High School, is currently attending Incarnate Word. Zach DeLeon, a pitcher from Hondo High School, is currently attending UT-River Grande Valley.

The team will begin the year with 15 pitchers, 13 position players, and Jarek Wells, who is expected to pitch and play outfield.

The San Antonio Flying Chanclas begin the 2021 Texas Collegiate League season on Friday, May 28th against the Victoria Generals. First pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Tickets for the Texas Collegiate League are on sale now and available at samissions.com.
