AKRON, OH - The 29th IMPACT player honor goes to none other than veteran centerfielder Taylor Schlopy. In her sixth season with the Racers, Schlopy is, without question, the player, the leader and the person, GM Joey Arrietta envisioned in 2011.

"Taylor's loyalty and work ethic has distinguished herself in a league with stars on every corner," noted Arrietta. "I believed in her from day one. I knew that she would help define the Racers as the blue collar fighters they are today."

Schlopy was drafted by the Akron Racers with second overall pick in 2011 NPF Senior Draft out of the University of Georgia. In the five seasons since then, Schlopy is on her way to accomplishing just about everything there is to accomplish.

Schlopy, who surprisingly was just nominated to her first All-NPF Team in 2015, already has the all-time franchise record for walks in her career with 101 and many other team records are within her sight. Schlopy is currently in second place for most runs scored (123) and home runs (27) by a Racer. She needs 20 runs and 17 home runs to tie both records. Schlopy is third in hits (153) and stolen bases (38) and needs just 39 hits and 10 stolen bases to reach those marks. The centerfielder is fourth in RBI (79), needing just eight to move into second place by herself and 54 RBI to catch Crystl Bustos' career mark. Schlopy is also tied for fifth in doubles with 21, needing just 11 more to match that career mark.

Defensively, Schlopy has only committed eight errors over her five seasons roaming the outfield, committing two or less errors in four of those seasons.

Schlopy's finest season to date was in 2015. She continued an inarguable trend of working like the consummate professional to find ways to improve her game and take it to the next level. The diminutive centerfielder posted career marks in runs scored (34), RBI (26) and home runs (10). Schlopy led the league in home runs and runs scored.

Schlopy has dramatically improved in a number of offensive categories over the last three seasons. Since the start of the 2013 season, Schlopy has posted a .259 batting average, 35 hits, 31 runs scored, seven home runs, 20 RBI and nine stolen bases.

Schlopy and the 29 other IMPACT honorees being revealed in the lead up to the 2016 season will be recognized in a weekend of celebration July 15-17 when the Racers welcome the Dallas Charge to Akron. The honorees will be in town for the festivities, the highlight of which will be a ceremony to honor them in which they will receive a personalized commemorative jersey with their name and number
