Tampa Takes Early Lead, Coasts to Win over Marauders

Tampa, FL - The Bradenton Marauders (2-3) trailed throughout in a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Yankees (4-1) on Monday night at Steinbrenner Field. Yankees pitchers, led by 2015 first round pick James Kaprielian (W, 1-0) totaled 15 strikeouts. Kaprielian collected nine whiffs over five innings in his Tampa debut.

RHP Austin Coley (L, 0-1) got the start for Bradenton and fell behind early. Yankee third baseman Miguel Andujar launched a two-run home run, his second of the season, to left field in the first inning to open the scoring. Coley struck out four over 4 2/3 innings, but was tagged for four runs on eight hits.

C Taylor Gushue homered to right field off Daniel Camarena to bring the Marauders within 4-2, but they would get no clos- er. Camarena and Jacob Lindgren each struck out three for Tampa. Gushue also doubled in the game.

3B Conner Joe went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. 2B Kevin Kramer singled in four tries.
