Tulsa Talons News Release
TULSA, Okla. â Team owner, Paul Ross, announced today that Head Coach Ken Matous' contract would not be renewed for the 2005 season.
Talons ownership released Matous after one season. The season started out 3-3, but quickly changed route to an 11-game winning streak, giving the Talons a No. 1 seed in the ArenaCup Tournament. However, the Talons fell short in the Playoffs and were eliminated by the Peoria Pirates at the Tulsa Convention Center, Aug. 21.
Ross said, "We have a very structured vision for this team. We came into the season as defending national champions, and we knew we had the potential to repeat. We feel our overall goals for this organization will be better attained with another individual as head coach."
Matous declined to comment at this time. Currently, the head coaching position is open. The Talons are interviewing applicants, and hope to have the head coaching position filled in one month.
