Talons Looking for First Conference Title

August 10, 2003 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Tulsa Talons News Release

Tulsa, OK- The second-seeded Tulsa Talons (14-3) took a big step towards an ArenaCup championship Saturday night with a 58-38 romp over the Hawaiian Islanders. Their quest continues this Saturday against the fourth-seeded Arkansas Twisters (11-7) in the National Conference championship game. The game marks the first time in either team's history to make the conference finals. Kickoff is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Convention Center.

Tulsa has played Arkansas more often than any other af2 opponent. The Talons lead the overall series with the Twisters, 6-3 (5-3 in regular season, 1-0 in playoffs) and are 5-0 at home (4-0 regular season, 1-0 playoffs). This season, Tulsa was victorious at the Convention Center, 59-46, on May 31st, while the Twisters handed the Talons their last loss on June 28th in North Little Rock, 45-29.

The Talons boast a record of 30-6 at home, counting regular season and playoff games. That record is second only to the af2 all-time record of 35-4 held by the Quad City Steamwheelers. The Talons have also won 26 consecutive regular season home games, which is the third-longest such winning streak in professional sports history.

Tickets for this Saturday's contest are available at local Drug Marts, the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office, the Talons office, or by phone at 584-2000.
