Take 5 with Lewy's Legion - Mike Burawski

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Hockey is a way of life for Mike Burawski, and he lives it with a recognizable flare at the Colisee. This super fan doesn't need a cape, but you'd better believe he doesn't forget his sombrero. Mike is the gentleman who throws the iconic black and white sombrero on the ice when a MAINEiacs player scores a hat trick. The origin of this tradition Mike recollects, "Chad Denny got a hat trick one night, and not a single hat went out on the ice. I was so sad about that. It was just terrible. I went up to Chad at the end of the game and told him that as long as I'm alive, and as long as the MAINEiacs play here, there will never be a hat less hat trick again." Mike has been true to his word, and there are several photos of players celebrating first star honors while wearing the sombrero. And though it's unclear whether or not the sombrero travels out of Lewiston, Mike has himself been far and wide in support of past MAINEiacs. When you see him, ask him to tell you the story of seeing graduated MAINEiac Alexandre Picard play on three different nights in two different countries, after Picard got traded in the middle of a game! Thank you, Mike, for your constant support of our MAINEiacs players. We'd like to see that hat one more time this season!
