Tacoma Stars Re-sign Four Players, Move closer to PASL Opener Friday

Tacoma Stars News Release

The Tacoma Stars of the Professional Arena Soccer League have announced the re-signings of midfielder Mark Lee, along with defenders Steve Mohn, Vitalie Bulala, and Jeff Bader as they continue to build their roster for their season opener on November 4th against the Turlock Express.

Lee, 24, and Mohn, 26, each played big roles in Tacoma's playoff run last season, Lee finishing with 21 points (12G 9A) and Mohn playing in 14 games, recording four goals and four assists. Both spent the summer outdoors with the PDL Champion Kitsap Pumas, where they were regular starters in a backline that was a key to their championship season.

"Mark is the kind of player that can change a game with his energy and his work rate," said Stars General Manager Todd Stauber. "He's versatile as well, and we know we can play him anywhere we need on any particular night."

Bulala and Bader helped anchor the Stars backline last year in their first season of professional play since 1992, and both will look to find their roles within the Tacoma defense again this year.

"Vitalie is a very technical player that knows the indoor game very well" said Stars head coach Leighton O'Brien. "Bader's also a guy that knows indoor well and his size allows him to mark opposing targets."

The Stars are looking forward to their first two matches of the season on Friday and Saturday night when they travel to Turlock, California for a double header with the expansion Turlock Express.

"We feel good about our team going into these first two games in Turlock," said Stauber. "We have a very good sense of how we want to play and who we are as a team and we're ready to get the season going."

The Tacoma Stars play in the Western Division of the Professional Arena Soccer League and open their home campaign on December 3 against the Phoenix Monsoon at their new home for 2011/2012, Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
