Bakersfield Blitz News Release


Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Blitz of the af2 have announced their complete schedule for the 2004 season. The home opener will be on Saturday, April 17th against the San Diego Riptide.

The Blitz will play a 16-game schedule, with eight of those matches at Centennial Garden. They will start the 2004 season on the road for their first two games. The Blitz will travel to Tennessee Valley for their first match of the year on Saturday, April 3rd and then it's on to Central Valley (Fresno) for Saturday, April 10th. All home games, including the home opener against San Diego on April 17th, will be on Saturday nights with a 7:00pm kickoff.

As a part of the National Conference West Division, the Blitz will host two games and travel for two games against each of the other three clubs in their division: the Central Valley Coyotes, Hawaiian Islanders and San Diego Riptide. The other non-divisional matchups at home will be against the Arkansas Twisters on May 1st and the Memphis Xplorers on May 22nd. Non-division road games send the Blitz to Huntsville, Alabama, home of the Tennessee Valley Vipers and Memphis on June 12th. There are two open dates for the Blitz, on Week 6 (May 8th) and Week 14 (July 3rd). The complete schedule is listed below.

The Blitz will host an open tryout camp on February 28th at the Bakersfield Convention Center, adjacent to Centennial Garden. The camp will run from 10:00am – 3:00pm. The cost is $50 per person, and includes an "I Tried Out For The Blitz" t-shirt, as well as two tickets to a Bakersfield Condors hockey game the following day. Season tickets for the Blitz upcoming season start at just $63, and are on sale now by contacting the Blitz office at 716-BLITZ (2548) or by stopping by the Blitz and Condors office located in Centennial Garden. The Blitz and Condors have also teamed up for special discounts for those purchasing ticket packages for both teams. All Condors season ticket holders can receive 25% off a Blitz package containing the same number of seats.

Extra Points: Get geared up for the 2004 Blitz season. The Condors Closet, the official retail outlet for both the Bakersfield Blitz and the Condors, has marked down all Blitz gear in stock while supplies last. All caps and short-sleeved shirts are just $10, with long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts marked down to just $12. All kids Blitz gear is marked down to $8 and $5. The Condors Closet is open Monday through Friday from 11:00am – 6:00pm, and on Saturdays 11:00am – 5:00pm.
