T-Bones beat the JackHammers 10-6 on Sat

JOLIET, IL-The Joliet JackHammers (19-21) battled back from a 6-0 deficit to tie the game at 6-6 only to lose by a score of 10-6 to the Kansas City T-Bones before 3,542 fans at Silver Cross Field on Saturday night. The JackHammers take on the T-Bones in the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m.

The T-Bones scored four runs in the first inning against Joliet starting pitcher Nate Sevier. Rob Watson (4-5) hit a one-out single and scored on a double by Brad Correll (2-5). The T-Bones took a 1-0 lead. Jim Fasano (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Correll and give KC a 2-0 lead.

Ken Harvey (2-5) hit a two-run home run to make it 4-0 in favor of the T-Bones.

Kansas City scored two more runs in the third inning against Sevier. The T-Bones loaded the bases with one out. Eric Scriven (2-4) followed with a two-run single to give Kansas City a 6-0 lead.

The JackHammers got on the board with two runs in the fourth inning. Steve Garrabrants (0-2) led off the inning with a walk and moved to second base on a walk by Joey Gomes (1-3). Freddie Thon (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Gomes. Nick Prosise (0-3) hit an RBI groundout to score Thon and get Joliet within four runs at 6-2.

In the fifth inning, Joliet scored four runs to tie the game at 6-6. Doc Brooks (0-4) and Cory Harris (1-4) worked back-to-back one-out walks. Gomes followed with a three-run home run over the right field wall. Thon hit a double and Dorian Rojas (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Thon to tie the game at 6-6.

The T-Bones scored four runs over the sixth and seventh innings to walk away with a 10-6 victory. Geoff McCallum (2-5) led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a single by Watson. Jim Fasano (2-4) hit a two-run single to score both runners for an 8-6 Kansas City lead.

Watson hit a two-run single to push across two more runs in the seventh inning.

Sevier started the game for the JackHammers and went three innings, allowing six runs on nine hits to get a no-decision. Nick O'Brien (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He pitched two and one-thirds innings and allowed two runs on three hits.

Joliet and Kansas City battle in game two of their three-game series on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. Kenny Durost (2-1, 3.61) gets the start for Kansas City against a yet to be determined starter for Joliet. It's the final day of Redneck Weekend on Sunday! The JackHammers present the CAT Hydraulics Baseball giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. The JackHammers will also host the Cow Paddy Bingo after the game with all proceeds to support the Miracle League of Joliet.
