Syracuse's Forbes Named Player of the Week

December 31, 2013 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) News Release

TAMPA, Fla. - The Major Indoor Soccer League announced on Tuesday that Syracuse Silver Knights midfielder Kenardo Forbes has been named the MISL Player of the Week for the seventh week of the 2013-14 regular season. Forbes had five goals in two games, including a hat trick in a victory against Missouri, for Syracuse as they split a pair of games on the road.

Forbes had a pair of 3-point goals in the Silver Knights' 18-15 win against the Comets on Saturday night, scoring the go-ahead goal that gave Syracuse a 14-13 lead at the end of the third quarter before capping the win with the final goal of the game. The following night against St. Louis, Forbes was again in line to lead Syracuse to victory with a short-handed goal that put his side up by two, but the Ambush rallied to take a dramatic 14-12 overtime victory.

Forbes' Silver Knights teammate Bryan O'Quinn was also honored as he was named to the Team of the Week after he made 12 saves in the victory against the Comets. O'Quinn leads the MISL with a .821 save percentage, and was excellent late on as the Silver Knights preserved their first win on the road against Missouri.

Missouri's Vahid Assadpour was also named to the Team of the Week as he recorded a hat trick in a losing effort against the Silver Knights. Joining him was Rochester Lancers forward Gary Boughton, who had a pair of goals in his side's 10-5 win against the Pennsylvania Roar.

Milwaukee's Carlos Munoz also earned selection after his four-goal game helped the Wave take victory against St. Louis, while the Ambush's Odaine Sinclair rounded out the forward line as he recorded three assists, including on the game-tying and game-winning goals, in his side's dramatic late comeback against Syracuse.

The MISL continues this week with a pair of New Year's Eve games today as the Milwaukee Wave host the Syracuse Silver Knights in a top of the standings clash at 3 p.m. ET, and the Pennsylvania Roar welcome the Baltimore Blast to Santander Arena at 5:05 p.m. ET. New Year's Day's action comes from the Blue Cross Arena as the Rochester Lancers host the Missouri Comets at 3 p.m. ET.
