
Swoopes to play versus Springfield

Houston Stealth News Release
Houston Stealth forward Sheryl Swoopes is expected to play tomorrow. Sheryl bruised her left knee in Houston's 69-67 loss to Birmingham on Saturday; however, the injury is not serious and Sheryl, in fact, played in Sunday's game versus the Tennessee Fury. She scored 20 points.
The Houston Stealth (1-4) faces the Springfield Spirit (5-2) Tuesday, February 24, 2003, at Rice University's Autry Court. Tip-off is at 8 o'clock.
Springfield's roster consists of three nationally recognized players:
Sue Bird, guard, Seattle Storm (WNBA), University of Connecticut ('02);
Swin Cash, forward, Detroit Shock (WNBA), University of Connecticut ('02);
Rebecca Lobo, forward, Connecticut Sun (WNBA), University of Connecticut ('95).
Each of them is expected to play tomorrow for Springfield.
John Chancellor is in his second year as the Houston Stealth's head coach and the Stealth plays in the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL). The Houston Stealth is the defending NWBL (Pro Cup) Champion. The Stealth will play its home games at Autry Court (8 games) and Hofheinz Pavilion (1 game) this season. The NWBL heads into its third season with six teams expanding the United States and these teams will play a twenty-game season from February 1 to April 13, 2003.
