Swashbucklers Trounce Mudbugs 56-35

LAKE CHARLES, La. (June 1, 2009) -- Alvin Bartie threw for 220 yards and five touchdowns as the Louisiana Swashbucklers defeated the Acadiana Mudbugs 56-35 in a Southern Indoor Football League game Monday night.

Three of Bartie's touchdowns came in a 28-point second quarter as the Swashbucklers (5-1) turned an early 9-6 deficit into a 34-18 halftime lead. Sammy Knight caught five passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns while Marcus Wilridge had eight catches for 85 yards and two scores for Louisiana, which has beaten the Mudbugs (3-2) twice by the same score. Kurt Duhon rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns, while Tommy Hebert kicked three field goals and went 6-7 on PAT attempts. The Mudbugs took a 9-3 lead on a 3-yard run Rudy Johnson run with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter.

After a Hebert goal field cut it to 9-6, Louisiana took the lead at 13-9 on Bartie's 15-yarder to Wilridge with 12:46 remaining in the first half and built its lead to 27-9 on a 45-yarder from Bartie to Knight with 5:58 left. The Mudbugs never got closer than 12 points after that.

Bo Bartik threw for 158 yards and three Mudbug touchdowns - two to Anthony Parks (5-28) and one to Anthony Perine (7-107). LJ Daughtry kicked three field goals - two over 40 yards.
