Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release
Lake Charles, La- The Louisiana Swashbuckler have reached the two thousand mark for season tickets sold this season. This is the highest season ticket total ever for a Lake Charles professional football team. Last years season ticket total was just under a thousand, which is not to bad considering the team opened operations in February, and kicked off in April due to Hurricane Rita. This year, the front office had a full year to prepare, and the hard work is showing off.
"We are extremely happy to see two thousand season tickets. Game Day tickets will be on sale in the next week are so and we are working diligently to sell out April 14th." Operations Vice President Scott Blanchard explained. "The front office and the Civic Center have been working hard on getting fans what they want. The concessions will change a bit, the lines will be shorter with more stations opened. Domino's and Dip'n Dots are on board for 2007 and we should see some smiling happy faces in those stands cheering for our football team."
Last season the teams' average attendance was between twenty six hundred, and three thousand. This year they are looking for an average around the four thousand range.
"That is our goal. To sell out this arena. Coach Lee is doing an excellent job putting together the best team imaginable, and we are going to make sure that the City of Lake Charles will get to see it, and be apart of something special." team owner Thom Hager said.
The last time a sports team has sold out a game was with the Lake Charles Ice Pirates. With a total capasity of 5335 seats in the Lake Charles Civic Center, It is not as unlikely as it sounds. The Swashbucklers, are nearly half way there.
The Smuggler's Den will have a small face lift before kickoff time. The 100 deck seats will be brand new. The Civic Center is also installing new view Screens in the Northeast and Southwest corners, replacing those damaged from the storm.
"This is going to be a great season for Swashbuckler football. We weathered the storm, now we are doing everything in our power to bring a Championship to Lake Charles." Blanchard said.
