Swashbucklers Facing Rival Panthers Again

LAKE CHARLES LA. "" Football rivalries abound everywhere. Whether Dallas plays Washington or New Orleans takes on Atlanta in the NFL or the Swashbucklers vs. the Panthers in the PIFL it's a rivalry all the same. Louisiana has lost twice to Albany in the last 12 months. Once in the championship game last year in July (69-48) and last Saturday in a thriller (58-55). The Bucs and Panthers are scheduled to square off again this Saturday, March 31st. at the Albany Civic Center.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. central standard time and the game will be broadcast locally on Sports Radio 1310 AM KEZM with John Goodman providing the play-by-play. The game can also be heard online. Just log on to kezmonline.com and access the audio feed.

Head coach Lucious Davis of the Panthers knows how intense it has become when the two teams meet on the field. "Our team has a great deal of respect for the Swashbucklers," he said. "Coach (Darnell) Lee has an outstanding program there. We know every time going in when we play them it will be tough and competitive." Coach Davis was not surprised at the outcome of last week's contest in the Smuggler's Den. "This was not unexpected. The players on both teams are competitive athletes with a strong desire to win. Our games so far have been close. I am expecting our next game with the Swashbucklers to be the same way."

When asked about the game plan for Saturday, Coach Davis said, "I intend to make some adjustments to our strategy. Coach Lee will be doing the same thing. Though we will be on our home field I know the Swashbucklers are coming here looking for a win. Our team must be ready to play. This game will be exciting for sure."

The next home game for the Bucs will be on Saturday, April 21st, when the Richmond Raiders will be paying a visit to the Smuggler's Den.
