
Swarm Plays Two Games This Weekend

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm (5-7) looks to rebound from back-to-back losses and solidify its playoff position in the West Division with two games this weekend; Friday against San Jose (5-8), 9:30 PM (CST) at the HP Pavilion, and Saturday against the Edmonton Rush (4-8), 7:00 PM (CST) at the Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota enters Friday's game in the fourth and final playoff spot in the West, just half a game ahead of San Jose. Minnesota trails Colorado by one game for third place with four games remaining on the schedule.
Minnesota is coming off a 13-10 loss vs. Calgary last Saturday. F Aaron Wilson led Minnesota with seven points (3-4=7), rookie F Kevin Buchanan added six points (3-3=6) and G Nick Patterson made 29 saves in the loss. Wilson now leads the team with 49 points this season (26-23=49). Buchanan has posted 27 points (13-14=27) in the last five games and has been named NLL Rookie of the Week twice this season. Patterson is 3-4 with a 12.54 goals against average (GAA) and a .735 save percentage (SV %).
San Jose is coming off a home-and-home series against Portland last weekend. The Stealth lost 14-12 Saturday night before responding with a 13-8 victory over the LumberJax on Sunday. F Colin Doyle leads the NLL with 86 points (29-57=86) this season. F Rhys Duch is second on the team with 70 points (24-46=70) and G Matt Roik is 4-6 with an 11.34 GAA and .765 SV %.
Edmonton improved to 4-8 on the season after a 16-12 win over the Toronto Rock last Saturday. F Dan Teat had seven assists in the game and leads the Rush with 51 points (23-28=51). F Andy Secore had eight points on the night (5-3=8) and is second on the team with 47 points (17-30=47); G Chris Levis improved to 3-3 on the season with an 11.44 GAA and .746 SV %.
Friday marks the final road game of the regular season for Minnesota as it will play its final three games at home. Minnesota is 4-3 on the road this season and 1-4 at home. Saturday's game will be "80s night" at the Xcel Energy Center and the first 5000 fans in attendance will receive headbands.
