Swarm clinch final playoff spot in west

SAINT PAUL, MN - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm (5-9) clinched the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division on Friday night after the Colorado Mammoth (4-11) fell to the Boston Blazers (8-7), 9-7.

The Swarm will enter the playoffs as the #4 seed and will play on the road in the first round against the Washington Stealth (10-4), Edmonton Rush (9-6) or the Calgary Roughnecks (9-6).

Minnesota is a combined 3-4 against those teams this season. - 1-1 against the Stealth - AWAY: (9-12 Loss , Feb. 5) HOME: (16-12 Win , Feb.13) - 0-2 against the Rush - AWAY: (14-16 Loss , Mar. 27) HOME: (12-13 OT Loss, Apr. 3) - 2-1 against the Roughnecks - AWAY: (7-12 Loss , Jan. 10), (17-13 Win , Mar. 26) HOME: (12-10 Win , Jan. 15)

The Swarm missed the playoffs last season after making three straight appearances from 2006-08. Minnesota will be looking for their first ever playoff win this year.

The Swarm will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak when they host the Philadelphia Wings (4-10) this Saturday, April 17 at 7:35 p.m. CST at Xcel Energy Center.

For the first time in it's six-year history, the Swarm will provide dog owners and dogs alike the opportunity to enjoy a lacrosse match together. Fans can bring their dogs to the arena for "Dog Night at the Hive" this Saturday and sit exclusively with their dogs and other dog owners in the Upper Level of Xcel Energy for only $10. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., owners will be able to walk their dogs around the concourse area as well as visit booths and dog friendly exhibits set up by local organizations such as Can Do Canines, Pet Yard Pick-Up, Pet Project, and MNSNAP.
