SwampDogs Shut Down in Florence

FLORENCE, S.C. - Some nights the 90 feet from third base to home plate feels a lot longer.
That was the case for the SwampDogs Monday night, as they threatened in nearly every inning against Florence but could not convert chances into runs, falling to the RedWolves 3-0.
Matched up against the RedWolves' top pitcher, Fayetteville brought a solid approach to the plate throughout the game. Six different SwampDogs contributed to the team's nine total hits, with AJ Hrica (Campbell) and Nick Erwin (Ohio State) each tallying more than one. Trent Franson (Houston Baptist) and Trevor Hafner (Ohio) joined Erwin as the three SwampDogs to record extra-base hits, but Fayetteville was not able to push a run across.
A quartet of SwampDogs appeared on the mound in Florence, limiting the RedWolves' offense effectively outside of a few speed bumps. Starter Michael Hendricks (Miami Ohio) pitched four and two-thirds innings before passing the baton to relievers Kyle Klotz (Belmont), Austin Goff (Middle Georgia State) and Brad Galisatus (Cal State East Bay).
The SwampDogs travel to Holly Springs Tuesday for a pivotal matchup with the Salamanders, returning to The Swamp Wednesday night to face the Savannah Bananas.
