FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - While The Swamp usually plays host to some of the nation's top collegiate talent, the players on the field were a little bit younger Sunday evening.

Twenty recent high school graduates from the Fayetteville area came out to The Swamp to showcase their talents in the Sand Hills Senior Showcase presented by Lumbee River EMC and South River EMC. Boosted by a sixth-inning rally and an MVP-performance from Scotland High School's Daly Marcano, the Home Team emerged with a 4-2 victory over the Away Team.

Marcano's MVP nod came in recognition of his two-way contributions on the field Sunday. Starting at shortstop, Marcano went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the batters' box while also shutting out the Away Team in a relief appearance on the mound.

Marcano's stellar performance not only led his team to victory but also earned him the $1,000 Granger Barrett Memorial Scholarship to put toward his first year of college.

The SwampDogs are thrilled to have given these players the opportunity to play in front of their home crowds one last time before they begin the next stage of their journeys.

The Swamp will once again have Coastal Plain League play Monday night, as the SwampDogs host the Wilson Tobs at 7:05 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie Grease.
