Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
WILSON, N.C. - The Wilson Tobs (16-26) snapped their 5-game losing streak at the hands of the Fayetteville SwampDogs (24-16) by a score of 11-5.
The SwampDogs trailed 4-1 heading into the 6th inning, before Fayetteville tied things up after taking advantage of the bases loaded with just one out in the inning Andrew Henrickson (East Carolina) drove a sacrifice fly into centerfield that scored Jameel Edney (Bethune-Cookman) and allowed Jayson Newman (Cal State Northridge) to come home on an errant throw to cut the deficit to one run. Trent Franson (TCU) plated the tying run with a two out double down the left field line allowing Justin Hawkins (Clemson) to score from second base, bringing the SwampDogs level at 4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Wilson would prove too much for the SwampDogs on Tuesday night, with the Tobs retaking the lead with three runs in the 6th inning and four more runs one inning later, putting the Tobs ahead by a final score of 11-5.
Shane Bishop (North Greenville) was handed the loss out of the bullpen, dropping to (0-2) while Will Edwards (Chowan) picked up his first win of the season improving to (1-0).
The SwampDogs return to the Swamp on Wednesday, July 19 for Christmas in July against the Florence RedWolves. The gates will open at 6 with first pitch at 7:05.
