FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.-The Fayetteville SwampDogs will have some familiar faces in the dugout during the 2012 season. The SwampDogs will have the entire 2011 coaching staff returning next season. SwampDogs Manager Darrell Handelsman, the Coastal Plain League all time leader in wins and two time manager of the year will be once again joined by David Tufo, Jim Roberson and Mark Acker.

It is no surprise that Handelsman, who is one of three coaches in summer collegiate baseball with over 500 wins, will be returning for his 8th season with the Dogs, considering his relationship with the ownership. "I am excited to have all three of these guys returning for 2012. I thought we worked really well together and I think the results back that up. Hopefully, having some continuity on our staff will translate to some more wins next summer and help us reach our ultimate goal of bringing a CPL championship to Fayetteville," said Handelsman.

Tufo, an assistant coach at Menlo College will be returning to "The Swamp" for his 2nd season. Last year Tufo coached first base, as well as the infielders and outfielders. The San Francisco, CA native also runs the SwampDogs kids camps.

"I am thrilled to be coming back to Fayetteville, it is the home of the best and most passionate fans in summer collegiate baseball," said Tufo. "I'm honored to be part of the 2011 CPL Organization of the Year and look forward to building from this to a Petitt Cup Championship."

Roberson spent last season as the administrative assistant for the University of Dayton baseball program, overseeing most of the program's daily operations. The Springboro, OH native will don the SwampDogs pinstripes for his second season.

"I'm excited to return to the Fayetteville coaching staff this season," said Roberson. "The SwampDogs have had tremendous success in the past, and the consistency of the coaching will add to that on the field. The fans have a lot to be proud of and also a lot to be excited about in 2012."

Acker, a retired LTC from the Army and former American Legion coach, will return for his 3rd season as the SwampDogs bench coach. Acker's excitement and willingness to work with any player has been key to the SwampDogs success.
