SwampDogs Award Grainger Barrett Memorial Scholarship

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs hosted the eighth annual Sandhills Senior Showcase presented by Lumbee River EMC and South River EMC.  The Lumbee River team beat the South River, 4-2.

Rob Hemmingway from South View High School was awarded the MVP Award, going 2-4 with a run scored and notching the save on the mound.  As the MVP, Hemmingway was awarded the Grainger Barrett Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 to pay for college.

Grainger Barrett passed away in 2009 after a 35-year career in public service, including serving as the Cumberland County Attorney from 1999 until 2009.
