(PORT HURON, MICH.) - In 48 hours, defenseman Pat Sutton signed with Port Huron, debuted as a Flag and scored his first goal against the first place Muskegon Fury.

On Thursday, Head Coach Stan Drulia signed Sutton, a 6-foot, 180 pound, right shooter from Forest, Ont. Last year, Sutton split time between the Pensacola Ice Pilots and the Victoria Salmon Kings in the East Coast Hockey League. Prior to that, he played four years in the Ontario Hockey League, where he never missed a post-season appearance.

On Friday, the Flags traveled to Muskegon to take on the unbeaten Fury, and Sutton donned the red and white jersey for the first time. At the start of the third period, the team was down 3-0 and it looked like the game was over for Port Huron.

However, Sutton was not going down without a fight. At the three minute mark, on assists from Colt King and Mark Cadotte, Sutton sent the puck past Muskegon's Ryan Cyr to rally the team. Muskegon fired back with a goal from Dave Noel-Bernier at 4:11, but Sutton and Cadotte assisted Jeff Cameron to Port Huron's second score at 8:32. Then, Trevor Edwards delivered at 14:22, assisted by Craig Mahon. Down 4-3, the Flags pulled goalie Dustin Traylen for the last minute of the game, but Todd Robinson's empty net goal with ten seconds left sealed the deal for the Fury.

Sutton's two points during the game were tied with Cadotte for team best. "He's a steady kid that will flourish given the opportunity," said Drulia.

Earlier in the week, Drulia waived forward Paul Snell. Snell was battling an injury and played just two games, with no goals, assists, or points recorded.

SKATE WITH THE PLAYERS: On Sunday, Nov. 5, the Flags battle the red-hot Muskegon Fury at McMorran Arena at 5 p.m. After the game, the fans have the opportunity to take the ice with the entire team and skate, chat and collect autographs. This session is the second of six that are spread throughout the season. Don't miss your chance to skate with the players!
