Mississippi Surge News Release
Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Surge has signed Defenseman Mike Looby for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. The Brampton, Ontario native has spent time playing in both the Central Hockey League (CHL) as well as the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
Looby played a total of 74 games in the Netherlands from 2011 to 2013 recording a total of 21 goals and 48 assists combined. "I'm a solid Offensive Defenseman who looks to bring leadership on and off the ice," said Looby. "My plan is to bring a championship back to the coast and get out in the community with the fans."
Jeff Bes stated that the team is shaping out well and it should be a hard fought battle in training camp to fill the remaining roster spots. "With Mike (Looby) coming in, I believe that we'll have a solid core of leadership, offense and toughness out there on the ice," said Coach Bes. "He's up for the challenge and ready to work hard to reach the ultimate goal."
