Mississippi Surge News Release

Mississippi Surge fans have spoken and they like the name Surge.

As the result of a recent month long fan survey on the team name, the Southern Professional Hockey League team will continue to be the Mississippi Surge.

"We had some comments in our town hall meetings about the team name, so wanted to survey our fans and get their thoughts," team president Katy Waugh said. "the majority of the responses were in favor of keeping the Surge name."

Waugh said fans expressed preference for the current name, as a recent season ticket drive was geared toward saving the Surge. She said there were a number of suggestions regarding the overall marketing of the team, that are being taken under advisement.

With the name issue settled, fans can stop by the Surge store located inside the Mississppi Coast Coliseum to gear up for the new season. The Surge team store is holding a major merchandise sale right now. The store is open for business Monday through Friday at the Coast Coliseum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Season tickets for the 2012-13 Surge season are available by calling the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825). More information is also available at www.mssurge.com.
