Surge Drop One to RiverKings

The Mississippi Surge dropped the latest installment of its in state rivalry, losing to the Mississippi RiverKings 3-2 Sunday afternoon in Southaven, Mississippi.

The loss, is the second straight for the Surge, which suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since January 6-8. Ironically, the second loss at that time was also a Sunday 3-2 loss to the RiverKings.

Shawn Skelly got the Surge on the board first with his 13th goal of the season at 6:02 of the first period. Kyle Lundale tied the game for the RiverKings, midway through the game, setting up a tied game going into the third period.

Mark Magnowski and Ken Selby scored by midway through the third period for the RiverKings, who won for the second straight game. With 2:06 left in the game, defenseman Nick Klaren, playing in only his third game since November 19th, scored to get the Surge within a goal.

The game was the sixth time out of eight games between the two teams to be decided by one goal. The Surge resumes action Friday at Louisiana.
