Surge come from behind to shoot down Ice Flyers

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Surge thundered back with a two-goal third period to come from behind and defeat the Pensacola Ice Flyers 3-2 at the Pensacola Civic Center on Friday evening.

After Shane Wagner covered the puck in the Mississippi crease, Pensacola's Eric Stoyanovich was tabbed to attempt a penalty shot but was denied by Mississippi netminder Bill Zaniboni. Pensacola grabbed a lead when Anthony Monte beat Zaniboni over the glove at 7:08 of the first period.

Kevin Galan gave Pensacola a 2-0 lead when his shot from just inside the blueline beat Zaniboni along the ice at 9:52 of the second. Mississippi answered back when Tim Velemirovich backhanded the puck past Pensacola's Ryan Scott for a a power-play goal at 17:56 of the second frame.

Just 1:33 into the third period, Andy Boudreau blasted home the rebound of Steve Weidlich's shot to tie the game at two-apiece. Matt Zultek celebrated his 31st birthday by potting the game-winner, redirecting Steve Weidlich's shot through Scott's legs on the power play at 14:05.

Bill Zaniboni made 29 saves to earn his 20th win of the season, and the Surge were 2-for-9 on the power play.
