Pittsfield Suns News Release

PITTSFIELD, MA - The Pittsfield Suns shut out the Bristol Blues Saturday night, 4-0, in the Blues first appearance at Wahconah Park this season.

Both teams threatened to score early in the game, but the first run would not come until midway through, in the bottom of the fourth inning. Designated hitter Jordan Pallazola led off the Suns part of the inning with a single, before being called out at second on a ground out by Brendan Geary. A two-out walk to Matt Morales put Geary in scoring position for Jeremy Giles who singled to plate the runner and give the Suns a 1-0 lead.

Giles came through for the Suns again in the sixth inning, adding another run to the score after an RBI-double to give Pittsfield some breathing room with a 2-0 advantage. Both Giles and Josh Hassell added to the score in the seventh inning, each with RBI singles, to make it s 4-0 Suns lead and eventual final.

Corey Wilson had a strong showing on the mound for the Suns giving up seven hits, three walks and striking out two in his sixth start of the year. He was able to shut Blues hitters down when it counted, pitching with runners in scoring position in the first, third, fourth fifth and sixth inning, before being relieved by Austin Dick with two outs in the sixth. Dick pitched the rest of the way and allowed one hit, one walk and recorded on strikeout and was credited with the save. Blues starter Tim Cate was pegged with the loss.

The Suns are on the road until Wednesday when they return to Wahconah Park to play the Seacoast Mavericks at 7 PM. It's Star Wars Night at the Wahc, presented by Mountain One, and some of the iconic series characters will be in attendance.
