
Sunlife Grocery, Orlando City Foundation Celebrate Addition Of Freezers to Parramore-Area Grocery St

ORLANDO, Fla. - Sunlife Grocery Store, in coordination with the Orlando City Foundation, celebrated the opening of the store's new freezers in the Parramore area Monday morning. With the help of Orlando City Foundation's monetary contribution, the freezers - which house frozen healthy food options -assuring affordable and quality foods for local residents.
"We believe in using the sport of soccer and the powerful influence of the Orlando City organization to promote exercise and healthy eating to the children and families of Parramore," said Orlando City Community Relations Director Kay Rawlins. "We are excited about helping to end the food desert and bring hope to the community during the holiday season."
With the goal of improving wellness opportunities in the Parramore community, the independent grocer has continued to make strides in improving the availability of healthy food options. Having the freezers assures that customers receive quality and affordable produce.
To celebrate the occasion, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell, Orlando City President Phil Rawlins, the Orlando City Foundation, ROCK (Reduce Obesity in Central Florida Kids), and Hebni Nutrition Consultants were in attendance.
"I'm so pleased to be here as this is another way our community partners have come together for a positive change," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "Off the field, our Lions play a big role in the local area, with today being another great example."
In addition to the freezer commencement, more than 150 turkeys were distributed to those in need at the event. A line wrapped around the grocery store of local residents receiving the donation, with Dyer and Rawlins handing out the turkeys for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
The Orlando City Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and is committed to supporting charities that improve the lives of children in the Central Florida community. Orlando City takes great pride in its active role in the community, harnessing the cooperation of its players, staff, fans and community partners to make a difference in the lives of others.
