Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that forward Daymen Rycroft has signed with the club for the upcoming 2011-12 Central Hockey League season.

Rycroft, 32, tallied 31 goals last season for the Colorado Eagles and led the CHL with a career-high 48 goals in 2007-08 for the Rocky Mountain Rage.

"We're excited to bring Daymen on board for this season," said Head Coach Marco Pietroniro. "He's a proven player in this league, and he's a skilled player that we're going to count on to have an impact for us up front."

Six of Rycroft's seven pro seasons have been played in the CHL with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, Rocky Mountain Rage, and Colorado Eagles. His lone venture outside of the CHL took place in 2006-07, when he scored 26 goals and 21 assists with the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers.

"I'm looking forward to this upcoming year," said Rycroft. "Marco is putting a solid team together, and we're looking to accomplish a lot on the ice this season."

Along with his 48 goals in 2007-08, he also finished seventh in the CHL with 89 points. He was named to the CHL All-Star Team in 2009.

Rycroft graduated from Ohio State University in 2004 after a four-year career of 130 games and 61 points (31 goals, 30 assists). While at Ohio State, he played alongside current NHL forwards RJ Umberger and Ryan Kesler.

"He is an excellent addition to the kind of team we're trying to build for this upcoming year," added Pietroniro. "He's a veteran and we'll rely on his leadership."

Rycroft has averaged nearly a point per game over the course of his career in the CHL. Through 347 games, the Beaverlodge, Alberta native has scored 346 points with 170 goals and 176 assists.

The Sundogs' roster now sits as four players with the signing of Rycroft along with forwards Kyle Hood and Luke Erickson, plus defensemen Tyler Butler.

The Arizona Sundogs are set to begin their sixth season of action in the Central Hockey League in October 2011. The team is also the host of the 2012 CHL All-Star Game in January.
